Peshawar's economy is unusually mixed for a single city — a heavy government and military footprint, border trade running through Torkham, gem and dry-fruit dealers around Qissa Khwani and Namak Mandi, NGO staff based in University Town, and households across Hayatabad receiving remittances from relatives in the Gulf. Each of these has a slightly different filing profile, but the deadline and the portal are the same for everyone: 30 September on FBR IRIS.
Salaried and Government Employees
If you work for the civil service, the military, or a private employer in Peshawar, your accounts department issues a salary certificate showing annual pay and tax already withheld under Section 149. That figure goes straight into your return under Income from Salary — no separate calculation needed beyond declaring any additional allowances.
Import and Border Trade Income
Traders clearing goods through Torkham pay advance tax under Section 148 at customs — 2% for filers, double that for non-filers. This is only an advance, not a final tax: you still need to file an annual return declaring your trading profit and claim the Section 148 amount as a credit against what you actually owe.
NGO Staff and Remittance-Receiving Households
Salaries from NGOs and international organisations are generally taxable like any other salary. Separately, money sent home by relatives abroad through proper banking channels is exempt from tax — but it still needs to be declared in your wealth statement as "foreign remittances received," otherwise it can look like unexplained income later.
Documents to Have Ready
- CNIC and NTN (we register this first if you don't already have one)

How NTNWaale Files for Peshawar Clients
There's no RTO visit required for a routine return. Share your documents on WhatsApp, we prepare your IRIS return, walk you through the numbers before submission, and file it the same day in most cases. This applies whether you're in Hayatabad, Saddar, University Town, or anywhere else in the city — the process is entirely remote.
