Every FBR tax payment — income tax, advance tax, withholding tax, or sales tax — goes through a single system: generate a PSID (Payment Slip ID) on IRIS, then pay against it through your bank. Here's exactly how the process works.
What Is a PSID?
A PSID is a unique reference number generated on FBR's IRIS portal for a specific payment. It links your NTN, the tax type, the tax year, and the amount due. Once generated, you take that number to any bank — digitally or in person — to complete payment. The PSID is typically valid for a short window (around 24 hours), so pay soon after generating it or you'll need a fresh one.
Generating a PSID — Step by Step
- Log in to IRIS at iris.fbr.gov.pk with your NTN and password
- Go to Payments > Create Payment
- Select the correct tax type (income tax, advance tax, WHT, sales tax, etc.)
- Enter the tax year and the amount
- Click Create — IRIS generates your PSID instantly
Ways to Pay Your PSID
- Internet banking — fastest option, usually posts to IRIS within a few hours
- Mobile banking apps — most major banks support PSID payments directly
- ATM — select bill/tax payment and enter the PSID
- Bank branch counter — hand your PSID slip to the teller, useful if you're not comfortable with digital banking
Verifying Your Payment
After paying, check IRIS under Payments > Payment History to confirm the credit has posted, then download your CPR (Computerized Payment Receipt) — this is your official proof and the number you'll enter when filing your return. If a payment doesn't reflect after a couple of days, contact your bank first, then FBR's helpline if needed.
