Your FBR profile isn’t a "set once and forget" record — it’s meant to reflect your current address, contact details, and banking information at all times. An outdated profile is one of the most common, and most avoidable, causes of missed notices, delayed refunds, and filing complications.
What You Can Update Yourself
- Residential or business address
- Mobile number and email address (used for OTPs and all official notices)
- Bank account(s) linked for refund payments
- Employer details, if you’ve changed jobs
Step-by-Step in IRIS
- Log in at iris.fbr.gov.pk with your CNIC/NTN and password
- Go to "Registration" and open the relevant form (105(1) for individuals, or the equivalent for AOPs/companies)
- Edit the fields that need updating
- Submit — most personal detail changes take effect immediately; some structural changes (like principal business activity or registration type) may route to the Commissioner for approval
Why Mobile Number & Email Matter Most
Every OTP for logging in, every e-notice, and every system alert goes to whatever mobile number and email are on file. If you changed your number two years ago and never updated IRIS, you could be missing critical notices right now without knowing it — and "I didn’t receive it" is rarely accepted as a valid excuse once a notice has been sent to your registered contact on file.
When You Might Need Help
Simple contact detail edits are usually self-service. Changes involving business structure, principal activity codes, or correcting a fundamentally wrong registration type are where things get more technical — that’s where a consultant helps avoid a rejected or delayed update.
